The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is adopting modern technologies and approaches to improve its inventory and monitoring information to meet the changing demands of forest management planning and inform other land use and natural resource management decisions. The inventory system has been updated to incorporate LIDAR and an area‐based approach for estimating and predicting forest inventory attributes. Sumac is collecting ground calibration data across Ontario to support this process.
