Todd Domney

CEO, Co-Founder

Todd Domney moved to Thunder Bay from Auckland New Zealand to complete his studies at Lakehead University. Todd, along with business partners Dave Carr and Tom Shields founded Sumac in 1996. Serving as CEO since 2011, Todd has overseen the growth of the company from its forestry roots to a full stack remote sensing services provider. Today, Sumac serves a diverse client base in the forestry mining and engineering sectors.

Tom Shields

Co-Founder

Tom Shields is a graduate of Sault College and Manger for Field Operations. Tom oversees Sumac’s seasonal workforce locating and measuring forestry sample plots across Ontario. Tom along with business partners Todd Domney and Dave Carr founded Sumac in 1996.

Dave Carr

President, Co-Founder

Dave Carr has served as Sumac’s President since co-founding the company in 1996 along with Todd Domney and Tom Shields. Dave is responsible for training and quality control of forestry field projects. He is widely recognized as an authority in forest ecosystem classification and forest soils.

Registered Professional Forester

Overseeing a team of certified air photo interpreters, and Andy has successfully delivered over 100,000 km² of Ontario Forest Resource Inventory. Widely recognized as an expert photo interpreter, Andy possesses 20 years’ experience describing and classifying forest ecosystems.

Senior Inventory Technician

Lucas is a certified eFRI photo interpreter for the Province of Ontario for both the Boreal and Great Lakes Forests. He has extensive experience undertaking a wide variety of forest surveys including growth and yield, regeneration condition and forest resource inventory.
