Sumac Geomatics is a leading provider of forest inventory design and execution. We work with our clients to define their requirements (scope, resolution, time lines and budget), to design a stratification and sampling program that yields accurate results.
We regularly undertake data collection and analysis procedures that conform to methods such as:
- Enhanced Forest Resource Inventory (eFRI),
- National Forest Inventory (NFI),
- Operational inventory and volumetric sampling (FiDEX) procedures
The enhanced Forest Resources Inventory (eFRI) is a strategic survey of Ontario’s forests. The program is tasked with surveying 555,000 square kilometres of forest land and wetlands across much of Ontario. It gathers a range of ecological information, tree species composition, range, age etc and, land use conditions. It is used to meet provincial, federal and international reporting requirements and, support resource management decisions.
