Sumac Geomatics Services

Sumac Geomatics assists engineers in the planning and management of a project from beginning to end. Our services produce more informative and accurate solutions over areas that have poor and no access to the site. Sumac clients have saved and reduced costs through the use of our services.

With the introduction of new technologies, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones), traditional methods of surveying and site assessment have become costly and less accurate. Sumac offers a complete solution to engineering firms. Products such as digital surface models (DSM) engineers are able to locate potential drainage issues, and save costs before construction begins. These are some of the tools that we use, but we offer far more than just being a drone company.

Many projects are of a size that still require manned aerial photography or lidar flights. It has therefore been our focus to build in-house data processing workflows, incorporating thorough quality assurance measures, to deliver data that feeds our client’s enterprise management systems, often within 24 hours of collection; regardless of how the data has been collected.

Over 30 Years of Experience

Our field teams have over 30 years of experience operating in the Canadian bush. Originally building our business on mapping forest inventories for the Province of Ontario, our core expertise is in photogrammetry and mapping. In addition to experienced in-house UAV operations teams, our staff includes professional remote sensing analysts, land surveyors, environmental science specialists and statisticians.
